Our teams: OPPaLE

I received a medical degree from the University of Bordeaux in France, and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Tulane University, School of Public Health in New Orleans, USA. Prior to joining the University Paris Cité/Inserm, I was a visiting scientist at the US National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, and Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health leading the Center for Integrative Research on Childhood Leukemia and the Environment (CIRCLE). I am a member and the immediate past Chair of the Childhood and Cancer Leukemia International Consortium CLIC).

My research focuses on the epidemiology of childhood and adolescent cancers within the continuum from etiology to clinical outcomes, with the goal of reducing cancer burden. In the United States, I led large multi-institutional, transdisciplinary, biomarker studies, integrating environmental and molecular epidemiology to study chemical, dietary, immune, and genetic factors, and using novel exposomic exposure assessment methods.  I will apply this approach to a new childhood cancer research program title imPACT-Childhood Cancers: PArtnership for Cancer Exposomic and GeneTic Research for Children, funded by Inserm and Choose France for Science, to address emerging concerns about understudied chemicals such as PFAS.
