Visit of Prof. Jonathan Repple and lecture on predictive models in psychiatry

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the METHODS team had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Jonathan Repple (Frankfurt am Main, Germany) for a presentation of his research on predictive psychiatry. A psychiatrist and researcher specializing in depression, Prof. Repple first presented his work on the brain markers of this illness, as well as some of its risk factors, such as childhood traumatic experiences. He then explained how, in subsequent studies, these biomarkers were integrated into artificial intelligence models to improve the diagnosis and treatment of depression. He rigorously outlined the limitations of these predictive models and the current obstacles to their application in routine clinical practice. In particular, he put these limitations into perspective with the nosological and psychometric challenges currently facing psychiatry. Finally, he presented the broad outlines of an international project funded by the Wellcome, conducted in collaboration with Astrid Chevance, Associate Professor (MCU-PH), within the METHODS team. This stimulating presentation provided team members with the opportunity to discuss with an international expert the scientific challenges of translating predictive models into clinical practice.
