New FCM 2026 (Federation of Memory Centres) guidelines for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease have just been published. Co-ordinated by Professor David Wallon, they were drawn up with a broad group of experts, including Professor Julien Dumurgier of the Memory Centres, and in collaboration with other learned societies involved in the diagnosis and management of neurocognitive disorders.
They provide a practical and up-to-date framework to better structure the identification, diagnostic assessment, use of biomarkers and additional tests, as well as patient support.
At a time when diagnosis is becoming earlier, more biologically based and more multidisciplinary, these guidelines are an important tool for harmonising practices across the entire care pathway.
