Thesis abstract:

The goal of antenatal screening is to detect potentially serious pathologies while avoiding over-medicalization or potentially iatrogenic effects on screened women.

This study will pay particular attention to two types of screenings:

  1. Screening for growth anomalies, conducted via ultrasound.
  2. Screening for chromosomal aneuploidies (e.g., trisomies), carried out using maternal blood markers.

The study will focus on the impact of these screenings on maternal mental health and well-being, as well as on healthcare utilization during pregnancy and the postpartum period. This analysis will leverage data collected from the 2016 and 2021 National Perinatal Surveys, supplemented with matched data from the national health data system.
