Gold September – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
The OPPaLE team of the CRESS is heavily involved in childhood cancer research (https://cress-umr1153.fr/en/teams/oppale-en/).
We are physicians, epidemiologists, pharmacists, statisticians, data managers and research assistants. Our common goal is to improve knowledge on the causes of cancer occurring in people aged less than 18 years, and the outcomes of people who survived a cancer in childhood or adolescence.
To do so, we use the high-quality data from the National Childhood Cancer Registry (https://cress-umr1153.fr/en/cohort/rnce-2/, https://rnce.inserm.fr/) and of the childhood cancer observation platform (https://rnce.inserm.fr/ccop-hope-epi/) that allow us to conduct large epidemiological studies, while respecting confidentiality and regulations.
We actively collaborate with the SFCE (French Society against Cancer and Leukaemia in Children and Adolescents) (https://sf-cancers-enfant.com/) and other research teams in France (https://programme-pediac.com/) or abroad (https://www.clic.ngo/, https://www.radonorm.eu/), and we liaise regularly with patient’s and parent’s representatives associations.
In September, as during the other months, we work against childhood cancer – for the children, adolescents and their families.
