Séverine Sabia receives the Louis-Daniel Beauperthuy Prize from the Academy of Sciences
The French Academy of Sciences awarded the Louis-Daniel Beauperthuy Prize to Séverine Sabia, Inserm research director of the EpiAgeing team from the Research centre on Epidemiology and Statistics, on November 26, 2024, at the Coupole of the Institut de France in Paris. This biennial prize honors any scientist (French or foreign) whose epidemiological work, like that of Louis-Daniel Beauperthuy, has contributed to improving humanity’s well-being.
This year’s Louis-Daniel Beauperthuy Prize was awarded to Séverine Sabia in recognition of her research aimed at identifying risk and predictive factors for neurocognitive diseases using data from the general population and clinical populations. Part of this work has been included in reports on the prevention of these diseases, such as the Lancet Commission on Dementia and the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Brain Health Report. Her research also focuses on the health impacts of physical activity, sedentary behavior, sleep, and circadian rhythm, measured through wrist-worn activity trackers.
This recognition also highlights the researcher’s innovative capabilities, as evidenced by her receipt of research funding from the European Research Council (ERC Consolidator Grant 2022), the Alzheimer Foundation (Innovative Projects Call 2023), and the Vaincre Alzheimer Foundation (Cross-border Project 2023).
