Biological sample data repository (BIOCAP)
Objectives
The main objective of the BIOCAP data repository is to allow researchers working on childhood cancer, to access data on tumour samples and other biological samples, incremented by information from the RNCE. These samples are stored in French hospital tumour repositories.
Collected information
The BIOCAP database gathers information on biological samples stored in the various laboratories involved in cancer diagnosis (biology, pathology). Some research projects need to analyse the samples taken at diagnosis, or during treatment. The BIOCAP database allows researchers to know very quickly of biological samples (tumour, blood or other samples) are stored for research purpose and where.
The samples remain where they are stored. The BIOCAP database is a virtual repository, and only includes electronic data stored confidentially.
