Nutri-Photo: Photograph your meal and contribute to future research

The NutriNet-Santé study is coordinated by the Nutritional Epidemiology Research Team (EREN), part of CRESS. Its primary goal is to investigate the relationships between nutrition (diet, physical activity, sedentary behaviors, and nutritional status) and the health of both humans and the planet, while also exploring underlying mechanisms and the determinants of dietary behaviors.

To gather accurate information on participants’ dietary habits, the study relies primarily on detailed dietary records. While these questionnaires are essential to the research, completing them can be time-consuming.

As part of a citizen science initiative, the EREN team is now seeking to develop new methods to simplify the collection of dietary data, particularly through the use of new technologies.

📸 Take Part in Nutri-Photo

It was in this context that Nutri-Photo was created—a website that allows anyone who wants to contribute to research to do so easily, using their smartphone or computer.
The process is simple:
• Take a photo of your dish or meal;
• Enter its ingredients in just a few seconds;
• Submit your photo securely and anonymously.
The collected photos will enable researchers to build a database designed to develop and improve tools that will eventually be able to automatically recognize foods and meals from photographs.

🔬 Why participate?

The use of photographs could, in the future, make collecting dietary data simpler and faster and help increase participant engagement in nutritional studies.
Each photo helps enrich the data available for research and better reflect the diversity of foods, dishes, and eating habits.

The team’s goal is ambitious: to collect 100,000 photos of meals!
Whether you’re already involved in the study or simply want to contribute to a scientific project, your participation can make a difference.

Take a photo, provide details, share it: every photo counts!

Feel free to participate in Nutri-Photo and spread the word. The more numerous and diverse the contributions, the more they will help advance this research and develop new tools for public nutrition research.

Thank you for your participation and your support !
