AP-HP 2026 Award: Alexandra Roren Recognized for Her Research in Healthcare

When research explores new approaches to help people live better with chronic pain.

Congratulations to Alexandra Roren, physiotherapist at Cochin–Port-Royal Hospital (AP-HP) and researcher within the ECAMO team at CRESS, who was honored on June 9 during the 2026 AVENIR Day for Nursing and Allied Health Research for her work on therapeutic horticulture for people living with chronic low back pain.

Her study investigated the effects of gardening activities compared with indoor manual activities, using brain imaging in particular to better understand the mechanisms involved in pain perception.

While the results did not show a significant difference between the two approaches, this work highlights the need for further research to precisely determine the effects of nature on health in people with common musculoskeletal conditions.

This research illustrates the importance of rigorously evaluating innovative practices in order to improve the quality of care and patient support.
