The PhD students’ committee and CRESS management organised a day of media training on 23 January at the Villemin site near Gare de l’Est (Paris 10e).
The training was provided by Fabrice Papillon, a journalist and experienced trainer of INSERM staff.
The course was open to all PhD students in their 3rd or 4th year at CRESS, including those who are not yet active in the media. It also provided an opportunity to improve general skills in scientific communication and popularisation.
As the feedback from the students shows, the course was a great success:
“Very personalised, lots of examples and practical application. […] Fascinating training. Very practical. It would be necessary to do this training regularly!”
“I found each part extremely interesting, and the small group format meant that we could ask all our questions. The information was concise, well explained and easy to remember. The exercises were extremely interesting.”
“An interesting training course that allows us to think about the importance of communication and how we can pass on our knowledge and, ultimately, our research.”
