Master Public Policy – Health (UPC-Sciences Po double degree)

Building on their long history, their shared educational values and their mutual recognition of excellence in their respective fields, Université Paris Cité and Sciences Po are cooperating to offer students the opportunity to acquire a triple skill set in public health policy, health law and health.

This double degree is designed to train those who, in the future, will design, implement and evaluate public policies in the healthcare sector. The aim is to provide future players in the healthcare world, whether in the medical or administrative sphere, with shared knowledge, tools for understanding and skills.

The program comprises three semesters of teaching followed by a semester of internship.

  • The first year takes place at Sciences Po, and focuses on public policy in the field of healthcare. It familiarizes students with the players in the healthcare world, gives them the keys to understanding the French healthcare system and the challenges it faces, and trains them in the design, implementation and evaluation of public healthcare policy.
  • The second year takes place at the University of Paris, and is structured around the Master’s degree in Public Health from the Faculty of Health and the Master’s degree in Health Law from the Faculty of Societies and Humanities. These courses introduce students to
clinical epidemiology, the framework of medical research, bioethical issues and understanding the problems associated with health data.
  • The fourth and final semester is devoted to an internship (in hospitals, the Ministry of Health, national or regional health agencies, etc.) to help students integrate into the workforce.
The internship involves writing a dissertation in English and an oral defense in French (two sessions, early July and early September).
